Steam Passivation: Passivation is an electrochemical process that can slow down or completely inhibit the metals corrosion reaction. The phenomenon consist mainly in the creation of a subtle film, made of corrosion effects such as absorbed oxygen or hostile environment’s substances, that perfectly adheres to the outmost surface of the item, which is in contact with such hostile environment, e.g. water or air. To enable this process, the film must stop the oxidizing agent from spreading, so it must be dense and impermeable, or “compact”.
Passivation is usualy a chemical treatment with oxydant ( nitric acid or citric acid) . Steam is an ecological alternative to this operation .
As in phosphate coating, dry or saturated steam can be used to spread the passivating product onto the surface.
As you can see, REA Steam Cleaning generators are a practical, quick and economical solution for the passivation of surfaces.
